IP Law question:

Is putting something (ie a quote) in the fortune file fair use? Is using a quote as a sig line? How about if that quote is put on a bumpersticker and sold?

Time Mag has a stupid cover this week. I tore it off and made confetti, but stopped myself shortly before throwing it in the air, and dropped it in the trash. The cats looked mildly disappointed, but they're just bummed out by the weather. It's raining pretty hard, so no outside frollicking, and now the thunder has started. Cats really dislike thunder, and they blame us for it. I vowed a few years back that if I ever had to subscribe to Time again I would require them to rip the cover off before mailing it to me. It's only Monday, so I have a couple days to catch up on last week's Economist before this week's issue winds it way here.</p>

Since I'm finally starting to make a few bucks here and there, I need to plan how to most effectively divest myself of it to make more. Things I need to do, not really in order (although there are dependencies):

• get domain hosted


• get email straightened out


• print new cards


• put up biz site, brochure


• put together brochure, packet thingy


• get new OpenBSD discs (2.8)


• incorporate (*flush*)

Of course to get the domain hosted I have to make room on the CC. To do that I have to have the bank send them money, and them give them a week to masticate on it. Argh. I also need to make room on the CC for more tests.

Oh, and I mustn't forget to spend a little money on Truck. In particular I need wiper blades and headlight bulbs...

And I need to write a python client for LJ (practice, custom foolishness, just because..) and add some features, like logging all posts to local disk or remote server, and ... Hrrm, maybe this thread belongs on lj-dev..

Well, the beta t-shirts are up. When you get done laughing, give me some constructive criticism.

On a not entirely related note, I'm still looking for a better definition of hacker than the one in ESR's Jargon File. In particular, his definition is not short, catchy, concise, and definitely not easy to present to newbies, neo-Luddites, and so forth. It definitely won't fit on t-shirts, coaster and bumper-stickers.
